CITY CONDUCTS TRAINING FOR BANGUS DEBONERS, PROCESSORS

DAGUPAN CITY – At least 25 bangus deboners and processors underwent skills upgrading  on bangus preparation and processing on September 9 at the Senior Citizen’s Training Center on Poblacion Oeste under the auspices  of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the city government.

The participants were oriented on proper fish handling, Hazard Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Management Practices (GMP) and Standard Sanitary Operations Procedure (SSOP) with hands-on training in bangus deboning held the following day at the Malimgas Public Market.

“We are done with tagging our Dagupan bangus to command a better price and to protect it from other bangus grown outside of the city. But it is important that we also improve the presentation and packaging of our Dagupan bangus to meet international standards in terms of food preparations and processing. In that way, we will have no problem selling our bangus in the international market,” said Mayor Belen T. Fernandez.

Fernandez added that the Seafood Processing Plant in Bonuan Binloc will be the city’s gateway to the international market, assuring that  it will not be long that the city’s dream of getting the biggest share in the international market would be realized. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Sept. 9, 2015)
