LINGAYEN - Pangasinan
National High School Batch ’73 Alumni Association (PNHSB73AA) held the
induction last Saturday of its officers headed by its President Mariano Luis
“SonnyV” Macasieb Verzosa at the Heroes’ Function Hall of the President Hotel
in this capital town of Pangasinan.
Verzosa was the former Pangasinan OIC-Provincial
Director in 2012 and a retired Police Senior Superintendent.
The event coincided
with the long awaited fellowship of its members who have not seen each other
for quite some time.
Inducted PNHS Batch 1973 Alumni Association officers were Verzosa as President; Mario Jimenez, Executive Vice-President; Annie Sison-Tiangson, Vice-President-Internal; Abraham F. Casipit, Vice-President-External; Ramon T. Santillan, Board Secretary; Rita U. Rayos, Treasurer; Josefina U. Arenas, Auditor; Augustus “Aug” D. Reyes, Business Manager; Bella M. Rivera, Press Relations Officer; Members of the Board of Directors are: Sonny E. Bravo, Mario S. Guiang, Leanilo Q. De Guzman, Juancho T. Angeles, and Bernardo De Vera; as well as Pepito U. Ulanday, Immediate Past President and Ex-Officio
During the induction
ceremonies, the welcome remarks was
delivered by Jimenez, while Verzosa delivered the message from an incoming
President; Introduction of the Guest of Honor and Speaker was assigned to Board
Secretary Santillan; Guest of Honor and
Speaker was Mr. Florante S. Tamondong, current Principal IV of the PNHS;
Tamondong’s Speech was delivered by his representative, PNHS Science Department
Head Adelina Digamon-Vinluan; Ms. Vinluan Administered as well the Officers’
Oath of Office; Alma Matter Hymn was led by Treasurer Rayos. Master of
Ceremonies of the Program was the son of PNHS Batch ’73 member Nilo De Guzman
while Gideon Moises De Guzman was the Night Chairman for the Fellowship Segment
of the memorable gathering.

desire to have a more developed and progressive Lingayen with smooth flow of
traffic especially at the downtown of
Pangasinan’s capital town. Batch mates of Verzosa encouraged him to run
for mayor of this town in May 2016 during the fellowship hour, with his vast
experiences in the government service, the former police provincial director
they say can effectively serve this burgeoning town to its highest level.
Verzosa said that if the
intelligent people of Lingayen will elect him in 2016 he will fast tracks the development and progress of this capital town
especially by sprucing up the tourist attractions by putting necessary
infrastructures as well as encouraging the private sector to invest. He
stressed that he would make the capital town’s economy bullish by solving the
traffic snarl that haunts motorist and commuters here and improve the peace and
order situation.
Verzosa’s career stints
were in the Philippine Constabulary (PC) and its successor the Philippine
National Police where he served in various positions such as the Chief of
Police of Dagupan City, OIC-Provincial Director (OIC-PD) of Pangasinan and
Intelligence Chief at the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO-1) in San Fernando City, La Union. Verzosa
graduated from the prestigious Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in Baguio
City.
The formal program started with an invocation led by Rev. Abraham F. Casipit, an ordained Pastor and Past District Superintendent (DS) of the United Methodist Church (UMC) and the Vice-President for External Affairs of the association; the Call to Order was done by Verzosa; Roll Call was assigned to Board Secretary Ramon T. Santillan; Special Business on the Adoption of By-Laws by all officers and members.
Verzosa, a health
buff, is the past president of the Lingayen Joggers/Walkers/Breakfast Club
before retired LTO Regional Director Pat Urmaza succeeded him. Verzosa is the incumbent President of the
Pangasinan PNP Retirees’ Association which includes the likes of retired
two-star General and 2nd Dist. Representative Leopoldo N. Bataoil,
retired Police Senior Superintendent/Provincial Director and Police Regional
Director and incumbent Pangasinan Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr., as well as a
good number of former PPO Staff and former Chiefs of Police of the different
LGUs of the huge province of Pangasinan.
He is also the newly
inducted Vice-President of the multi-awarded Rotary Club of Lingayen,
RI3790. It was rumored that he will be
the next Club President of the Rotary here. Verzosa is the Past President of the JCI
Lingayen Bagoong Chapter.
