Lingayen cops arrest trike driver in drug buy-bust

                                                            By Melvin Tiangson Samson

LINGAYEN - Elements of Lingayen Police Station (LPS)  under the supervision of PSupt Jackson G. Seguin, Chief of Police of this capital town, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 1 (PDEA-R1),  conducted illegal drug buy-bust operation last Tuesday at dusk with the arrest of Alfredo Cruz y Caalim alias ‘Pidong’, 48 years old, married, tricycle driver, and a resident of Vila Street, Brgy. Maniboc here.
The suspect was charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of RA 9165.

Confiscated from Cruz’s possession, control and custody were two (2) small heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing alleged Methamphetamine Hydrochloride also known as “Shabu” marked as JSM1 subject for selling and JSM2 subject for possession and the buy-bust money, one (1) piece of five-hundred-peso bill with serial number TVO64072 marked with JSM.

The suspect is now detained at the Lingayen Police Station detention cell pending the filing of appropriate complaint against him.

The buy-bust operations in this town as well as other municipalities and cities of  the province are in line with Pangasinan Police Provincial Office Officer-in-Charge Provincial Director (PPO/OIC-PD) PSSupt Rolie M. Saltat’s 1-2-3 punch against crimes.   1-2-3 punch is a province-wide campaign and battle cry of the PPO launched a few months ago by PSSupt Saltat to curb criminal incidence in this huge province to protect persons, families and properties.

The series and simultaneous police operations against illegal drugs by the PPO in the different LGUs is consistent with the strong anti-illegal drug campaign of the Pangasinan Provincial Government under the administration of incumbent Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr.  Espino, a retired Police Senior Superintendent, and was the former Pangasinan Police Provincial Director (PD) and former Police Regional Director (RD). The Province of Pangasinan hosted an “Anti-Illegal Drug Summit” last year at the Sison Auditorium, Capitol Complex, in this town, with Resource Speakers from the Dangerous Drugs Board and other line agencies of the government; which was attended by multi-sectoral groups from the different parts of the province.
