The committee conducted on February 3-5 a Latin Dance Sport Workshop activity at CSI Atrium for students and teachers from both public and private schools.
The workshop was all about the basics of cha-cha-cha and the jive dance like learning the basic timing of the two dances with walking, basic partnering, and the bronze syllabus of both.
According to Fe Zenaida L. Sinlao, a technical consultant at the City Culture and Arts Office, the Latin Dance Sport Workshop is also about training the kids who will possibly represent the city in the coming Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet in Vigan.
Latin dance has been incorporated to be part of the sports events at the R1AA and the Palarong Pambansa.
The three-day workshop was undertaken by Gian King Amir Abdallah, a National Latin Dance Sport competitor; Roberto Aliguin and Dr. Jane Cajagon.
“We are hoping to see our kids compete with success at the R1AA and the Palarong Pambansa in this new competition which considers Latin dance as a sports,” said Sinlao as she disclosed that the activity was in line with the program of Mayor Fernandez to help the city’s athletes excel in sports under the B.T.F. Does It program. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Feb. 8, 2017)
