P3.3B Tax target in BIR P'gasinan a tall order - Exec

CALASIAO – With P82, 000 given this year  by Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) as tax exemption cap to each taxpayer, the P3.3 billion target given to the BIR's district office here is a tall order, according to Assistant Revenue District Office-4 Chief Charmaine C. Dela Torre.
Assistant Revenue District Office-4 Chief Charmaine C. Dela Torre.

An optimistic Dela Torre said that her office is hoping against hope to surpass the P3.3 billion target after it did not hit the last year’s target of P2.7 billion.

She said if based on the year-on-year  2014 collection versus those in 2013 “we are short by around five percent”.

“Pero this time P3.3 billion tinaasan naman ng P600 million against P2.7 billion and considering that baba talaga ang collection namin sa income tax kasi of the cap from P30,000 to P82,000. No increase pa in tax rates”.

She said the goal is too high to an area that is not as economically burgeoning compared to other districts

But despite the mammoth goal that they have to eclipse at the end of this year, efficiency was on their side after they surpass the March target of P206 million by collecting P210 million.

“We are able to collect P210 million, it was a 2% spike," she said.
