The Sumadel tribe of Kalinga Apayao led by their leader, Chokas Bommosao (extreme left), performs the traditional ethnic dance called “Kanyaw” upon their arrival at the Capitol Plaza as an expression of gratitude to the provincial government of Pangasinan led by Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. for accommodating their group’s lakbay-aral on May 12 at the Capitol Complex in Lingayen. Over 60 Sumadel tribe members were awed to experience a free guided tour at the elegant and timeless architectural design of the edifices around the Capitol with a breathtaking view of the Lingayen Gulf at the back. Bommosao said his group wishes to come back and bring in more members of the tribe. /Photo by JRSison |
