50 SPES BENEFICIARIES RECEIVE THEIR SALARY FROM THE CITY

DAGUPAN CITY - Some 50 beneficiaries under the Special Project for Employment of Students (SPES) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the city received part of their 20-day salary from the city on May 28.

These students, aged 15 to 25, were employed while the city was conducting the 2015 Bangus Festival celebration which was considered as the most orderly and the happiest Bangus Festival ever.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez along with Public Employment Service Office Joy Siapno personally gave the students their salary of P3,036 each, comprising 60 percent of their due.

DOLE will shoulder 40 percent of the student’s salary, which is about P2,024 each.

Aside from personally thanking them for their contribution to the  success of the 2015 Bangus Festival, Fernandez advised the students to spend their hard earned money wisely in paying part of their tuition fee and in buying school supplies.

‘Part of our advocacy in our governance is to help our children finish their schooling and to inspire them to go to school. We have been constantly visiting our schools so we could provide school rooms if needed or even repair rooms for the safety of children just like what we did in some schools like Bonuan Boquig National High School during the Brigada Eskwela,” said Fernandez.

She expressed hope that DOLE will soon give its counterpart to the salaries of the students so that they can use their money in enrolling this school year. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/May 28, 2015)
