SAN CARLOS CITY – Mayor Julier C. Resuello said this mango producing city won the biggest price of the “Seal of Good Housekeeping” (SGH)” all over the country awarded by the Department of Interior & Local Government.
He said the P25 million given by the DILG recently is the biggest award to a city at the national level category.
“It was the biggest price given to San Carlos versus other contenders all over the Philippines,” Resuello said.
The cash award, the young mayor said, would be appropriated on farm-to-market roads worth P15 million and the repair and construction of public school buildings worth P10 million.
He said the aims of the SGH for LGUs is in line with the DILG’s commitment to aggressively scale up interventions to elevate the practice of governance that values transparency, accountability, participation and performance into an institutionalized status.
With the SGH, an LGU will be qualified for the Performance Challenge Fund being handled by the Bureau of Local Government Development.
Meanwhile, the mayor said this city hosted the officials and players of four regions in the country that would compete in the 2012 Palarong Pambansa.
“They are Western Visayas (Region VI), Sarangani, Mimaropa (Region IV-B), and Caraga (Region XIII)”.
He said this city is the venue for football and soft ball.
Resuello said whatever problems would crop up at the billets, officials there should coordinate with the officials of the Department of Education so his office can act immediately.
