Stradcom's Boss Cesar Quimbao CALASIAO- Despite being deprived of a big taxpayer, Revenue District-4 that is based here still collects significant revenues compared to what it collects last year. According to a source, the Large Taxpayer Section of the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Manila took Stradcom, the information technology arms of the Land Transportation Office of the Philippines that is based in Bayambang, Pangasinan. “Stradcom is a big loss for the tax collection of BIR in Pangasinan. It pays P105 million tax last year. It is a big ticket taxpayer,” the source who asked anonymity declared. RD-4 is run by its new chief Christine Cardona. She hailed from Ormoc City where she was the chief of Revenue District office there. During the kicked-off of a tax caravan campaign of RD-4 this year, Tax Deputy Commissioner Lucita Rodriguez lauded Cardona for a good job in a district that covers two cities and 13 towns in Central Pangasinan. Rodriguez said Cardona’s office efficiently collects revenues for the government. Cardona said that tax information campaign is one of her strategies to intensify tax collection for this year. Last year RD-4 was given by the tax central office of a tax goal of P1.5 billion that was collected by Cardona’s predecessor Yolanda Ferrer sometimes in October 2010. RD-4 is given a tax goal of P1.7 billion this year. According to some insiders there, the gods are smiling to this office as its chief surpassed her goal given to her by the national office every month. Stradcom Corporation, headed by Bayambang native Cesar Quiambao, currently stands at the forefront of the Philippine IT industry. Over the past decade, it has paved the way for streamlined processes at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) through its creation and implementation of various technical applications (MCO). |
