CALASIAO- The new chief of Revenue District – 4 that oversees 13 towns and two cities in Pangasinan was lauded for her aggressive stance by collecting more taxes in the first two months of this year.
Mrs. Cristine Cardona was hailed by Assistant Revenue District Officer Charmaine dela Torre for breaching for the second time her tax goal of P245.6 million for January and February this year by collecting P267.3 million – 9% or P21.6 million higher.
“Because of the enforcement tax campaign activities, iyon talaga ang strong stand ng BIR. We run after those tax evaders, tax cheats. Nag-co-conduct kami ng surveillance, tax mapping,” she stressed.
Dela Torre said that taxpayers are aware that RDO-4 meant business. She added that this can be seen on the payment that was voluntarily given recently to the tax offices all over Central Pangasinan.
A source who asked anonymity was awed that despite the absence of new big ticket investments in the areas covered by RDO-4, still Cardona and dela Torre were able to exceed their tax target.
The goal given for them to collect at the end of this year is P1.776 billion or 15% bigger than the tax target given to RDO-4 last year.
Meanwhile, the director of the BIR in Region 1 told this paper that the national government gives him a tax goal of P6.5 billion for 2011.
Atty. Arnel Guballa said that this is P1.1 billion higher compared to what has been given to his predecessor Tomas Rosales last year
