Despite being seen in
a chummy photo-op with each other, the Mayor is ambivalent about the public
support espoused by his Vice Mayor.
Upon assumption of
office in June 30 this year, the Hizzoner has to see if the Veem - his long-time
political rival and nemesis – and his almost all allied members of the
Sanggunian Bayan (legislative body) will support his needed resolutions and
ordinances for his programs until his term will end on June 30, 2025.
The Vice Mayor is a seasoned former mayor.
A scheming politico. Photo credit: Sound Card |
Friends of the
Hizzoner advise him not to lower his guards on succumbing to the assurances of
the palsy walsy Veem to support all his programs and policies in his three years’ term in
office.
The red flag started
to rear its ugly head when members of the more or less 70 of a homegrown club in
the town told the Mayor that as the election of the president of their
organization comes near, the Veem allegedly bankrolled the vote buying at
P5,000 per member.
“Mantakin mo election lang ng presidente tag
limang libo ang bilihan,” the
mayor emphatically said.
But the fair haired
boy of the vice mayor did not succeed because the Hizzoner told the members
that incase the anointed candidate of the Veem wins he could not make a
courtesy call in his office and the absence of support he will give to the
organization.
The members heeded
exhortation of the Mayor by electing the candidate who is friendly with him.
The Hizzoner’s peer
told him that his Veem is maneuvering to recapture in 2025 the highest elective
post of the town.

Back to the
pronouncements of the Veem of his unconditional support to his Mayor until
2025, we should take it with a grain of salt.
As what the Soviet
leader Nikita Khrushchev said in an axiom about politicians:
"Politicians are the
same all over. They promise to build bridges even when there are no rivers".
The Veem pledges are written
in water, even if there is no river and no bridges salamabit hahaha, my dear
Mayor.

For history sake to
the Flips, er, Filipinos who ain’t read majors events in the past. Don’t you
know what took the goat of Soviet Premier Khrushchev – First Secretary General
of the Soviet Union - to bang his shoe on his table in a United Nations’
assembly so his voice could be heard?
A Filipino politician named Lorenzo Sumulong - a kin of the Aquinos of Tarlac.
I don't know if Khrushchev
was inebriated by the legendary Russian vodka, but the Commie leader pounded
his shoe on his delegate-desk in protest at a speech by Philippine delegate
Sumulong during the 902nd Plenary Meeting of the United Nations General
Assembly held in New York City on 12 October 1960.
The reason?
Lorenzo Sumulong - a 40 years Philippines
Senator - called the people of Eastern Europe – part then of the iron of
curtain of the Soviet that Josef Stalin annexed like what Vladimir Putin done
to Ukraine's regions - and elsewhere which have been deprived of the free
exercise of their civil and political rights because of the juggernaut bully state. Upon hearing this, Khrushchev banged his shoe and quickly
came to the rostrum and demonstratively, in a theatrical manner, brushed U.N
Delegate Sumulong aside, with an upward motion of his right arm—without
physically touching him—and began a lengthy denunciation of the Filipino
politician, branding him as a jerk, a stooge, a lackey, and a toady of American
imperialism and demanded U.N Assembly President Frederick Boland from Ireland
to call Sumulong to order.

Geez, how lucky are
followers of warfare like me. When the Vietcong and North Vietnamese Army
battered and defeated the French in Dien Bien Phu and besieged the U.S military
in the Tet Offensive, war enthusiasts contended themselves in reading what
ensued on the broad sheets like New York Times and Mags like Newsweek and
Times.
Now, every day You
Tube videos abound with latest breaking news about the progress of how the
Ukrainian army bludgeoned the absconding Russian soldiers in the democratic
land their despotic leader Vladimir Putin ordered invaded.
Military analysts proliferate too. They are retired U.S Army Colonel Cedric Leigton, retired four-star Army General Wesley Kanne Clark - Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO from 1997 to 2000 -, retired Army General David Howell Petraeus who was the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, former U.S National Security Adviser and retired Army Lt. Gen. Herbert Raymond McMaster to name a few.
Here’s an excerpt of
the analysis of U.S Army retired Colonel Cedric Leighton on the possible
military tactics of Ukraine as it prepares to launch an attack on the Luhansk
Region Putin annexed as Russian Territory. Leighton also discussed the use of
more lethal U.S made MGM -140 Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) to fuel
the momentum of the Ukrainian multiple attacks on the beleaguered Russian
soldiers who have inferior number and who reeled in a low morale.
The ATACMS provide the
soldiers the ability to engage both point and area high value targets with
precision fires out to 300 km.
Probably part of the
18 M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) the U.S will give to
Kyiev government economic and military packages – part of the $15.8 billion aid.
Since the war that
started in February, the U.S government gave Ukraine 16 HIMARS plus the
incoming 18 HIMARS and ATACMS that will be 34 long range sniper like rockets
and missiles.
Despite hitting
accurately their targets - thanks to the GPS guided- HIMARS - that resulted to
the Russians being massacred, screaming like whore when hit, and running like
rats from their positions, the HIMARS can fire only 95 kilometers unlike the
300 kilometers range of the ATCM that can hit Russian cities, too susmariosep.
