SAN CARLOS CITY – The Resuello brothers who handily won the mayoralty and vice mayoralty races in this city called as “malicious” the accusations circulated by their foes that they are into illegal drugs.
CITY DAD. Newly elected city Councilor Joshua G. Resuello joined by his three brothers incoming mayorJoseres Resuello, incoming vice mayor Julier Resuello, and another sibling as he took his oath of office with Municipal Trial Court Cities (MTCC) Judge Gliceria H de Vera Murala. MORTZ C. ORTIGOZA
Mayor Joseres S. Resuello said their political opponents even said he and his older brother, outgoing mayor and incoming vice mayor Julier Resuello, were caught by the police in Manila because of possession of illicit drugs.
“Merong nagsasabi na mga drug pushers at drug users. Sasabihin ko sa inyo ako mismo ang magtatrabaho sa pagkahuli ninyo (Those baseless accusations came from those drug pushers and drug user. Please be forewarned, I will personally work for your arrest),”he declared at the Arenas-Resuello Sports Complex last Monday during the oath taking ceremony of the newly city elective officials here.
Incoming Vice Mayor Resuello said the rumors not only destroyed the family honor before the election but are still being circulated after the May 9 polls, that he was arrested in Manila, Bulacan, and Baguio City for illegal possession of drugs.
“Sa labas ng siyudad ng San Carlos limang beses na daw ako nakulong sa Crame, huwag po kayong mag-alala walang katotohanan ang mga iyan (Outside San Carlos, I had been detained in Camp Crame by the police. Do not worry because those are baseless),” he said.
Their constituents here should not worry, he stressed, because these intrigues were circulated to soil their family’s name.
He said his family would not destroy the name of their late father mayor Julian Resuello.
Resuello, who brought law and order in this once rambunctious city, was assassinated when he was attending in April 2007 the city fiesta celebration at the city gymnasium.
The outgoing mayor doused cold water on another scuttlebutt that the newly elected mayor will serve a single term only as he braces to reclaim the mayoralty here in the 2019 election.
“As a former mayor I have trust and confidence on our beloved mayor that he would continue the good deeds started in public office by our family,” Julier said.
As vice mayor, he added, he will support and give advice to the new mayor.
“Amin pong pinapanatiling malinis ang aming pangalan, kahit kelan po hindi po namin nababahiran ng kahit anong dumi sa pagkat mahal na mahal po namin ang aming siyudad ng San Carlos,” he added.
He continued that if the mayor needs his advice he will do so, adding that he knew his younger brother can effectively govern and serve this city.
The new mayor said investors’ confidence was high in this huge populated and thriving city.
He said Magic Groups of Company will be building a mall in Barangay Roxas here while San Carlos E-Town Center will be using 16,000 square meters in Rizal Boulevard for its project.
