Dagupan tops competitive index in Region I

DAGUPAN CITY – This city is now in front  as the Most Competitive Local Government Unit in Region 1 and is now significantly ranked number 15 nationwide in this year’s overall ranking of the National Competitiveness Index under the Independent Component City category.

In 2014, Dagupan’s  national overall ranking was at 44th but climbed to number 19 in 2015 when Mayor Belen T. Fernandez implemented various programs and projects that catapulted the city to its present status due to its good economic performance, numerous infrastructure projects  built and for practicing  good governance.

According to the National Competitiveness Council, Dagupan has improved its performance in terms of economic dynamism, government efficiency and infrastructure which is a big leap from its performance in 2014.

This data will serve as the basis of the council in helping investors find  places where to invest or set up a new business in any of the top performing LGUs in the country.

From nowhere, Dagupan vaulted to the top  under the administration of Mayor Fernandez and was rated number two in the region,  next  only to San Fernando City, La Union last year. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/July 4, 2016)
