Dagupan observes National Nutrition Month


DAGUPAN CITY – In observance  of the National Nutrition Month on the theme “First 1000 days ni baby pahalagahan para sa malusog na kinabukasan," the City Nutrition Office outlined several activities to promote the importance of good and proper nutrition.

 
Nutrition Officer Ana Kour Fernandez said  the activities include deworming ,micronutrient supplementation, promotion of good nutrition training, cookfest, poster-making contest, nutria-jingle contest, fun run, promotion of good nutrition through healthy lifestyle and exercise, cooking as income generating project, and conduct of lay fora on nutrition and importance of exercise.
 
“The fun run will be on July 26 at the De Venecia Pantal-Lucao road while the cookfest, poster making and nutria-jingle contest will be done in all schools. Deworming for 1-18 years old will be undertaken by the City Health Office in collaboration with the Department of Education,” said Fernandez.
 
Mayor Belen T. Fernandez inducted into office on July 4 the new Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) officers for 2016 headed by Corazon Ferrer. The other officers are Perla Lopez, vice president; Esperanza Tan, secretary; Eufracio Senen, assistant secretary; Imelda Manzon, treasurer; Marivic Quinto, asst. treasurer; Reynaldo de Vera and Ruth Permisson, PRO; Margie Ilaw, Evelyn Daroy, Catalina Espinosa, and Maribel Sabado as business managers; and May Beltran and Maritess dela Cruz as auditors.
