Dagupan's OSYs undergo adult fertility, sexuality study

DAGUPAN CITY – A total of 150 officers of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP)-Dagupan City Chapter underwent a one-day seminar concerning Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality Study (YAFS4) at the city museum on December 2.

The seminar aimed to inform young Dagupeños about adolescent sexuality and health issues in a bid to empower them in decision-making regarding their sexual and non-sexual behaviors.

“It is important that our youth be reminded on how to deal with their sexual and non-sexual behaviors to keep them away from getting pregnant at their early age,” said Leah L. Aquino, City Population Officer and concurrently Officer-In-Charge of the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Accordingly, based on the records of the Commission on Population, Dagupan City has the most number of teen-age pregnancy cases all over Pangasinan.

Through the initiative of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, the PYAP Dagupan City Chapter was organized to provide all out-of-school youth the opportunity to excel and acquire a better future. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
