Bataoil talks on his re-greening programs

Nearly 150 world leaders are seating together for the 21st United Nation Climate Change Conference in Paris which started yesterday, November 30 and will last until December 11, 2015. This has been a huge step for our nations’ leaders and an historic occasion to put the world on track to rally the climate change challenges and to battle global warming.
Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil (2nd District, Pangasinan) as
Guest of Honor and Speaker during the Flag raising
ceremony and celebration of Bonifacio day at the Philippine
National Police Academy, Camp General Mariano N
CastaƱeda
Presidente Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III also attended the 21st Conference of Parties to exchange experience and counter measures done in the Philippines to fight climate change. In the 2nd district of Pangasinan, we have been actively involved in environmental protection and continuous effort to counter global warming and climate change by way of promoting tree planting in many of our forest and vacant terrain in the district. Just last September this year, we finished planting Ylang-Ylang seedlings in the120 hectares of land at Brgy. Hacienda in Bugallon in partnership with the People’s Organization (PO)---Hacienda Community Livelihood Association in-line with the National Greening Program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). We also started the same at Brgy. Bantokaling and Muelag in Mangatarem and now we have ongoing talks with Society of Aguilar Environmentalists of Pangasinan (SAGUEP) another PO, to plant Ylang-Ylang in the initial 300 hectares of land in Brgy. Laoag in Aguilar, this is to complete our target 1000 hectares of Ylang-Ylang plantation in the 2nd district. And even I was in the Academy as a cadet it has been my passion to plant trees. At the Philippine Military Academy there’s this tree that I planted when I was still a cadet and it grew so tall that it has been a favorite spot for photo opportunities with my mistah, it lasted for almost 39 years until it needs to be cut for a valid reason, but since then I was encouraging them to do the same and participate in tree planting activities. Last Bonifacio Day Celebration I was invited as the guest of honor and speaker at the flag raising ceremony of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in Silang, Cavite, and I saw the opportunity to share with them my advocacy in planting Ylang-Ylang. I promised to donate truckloads of plantable Ylang-Ylang seedlings to be planted in almost 56 hectares of vacant lot around the Academy.
This endeavor will not only help in our continuous effort to address climate change but also a livelihood opportunity for many people especially in the 2nd district of Pangasinan
