Macanlalay Bares Projects under his P180M Budget

CALASIAO – The mayor of this burgeoning town bares the projects his administration has been implementing under the P180 million municipal budgets for this year.

Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay said the biggest allocation has been given to the construction and maintenance of farm-to-market roads.

“Sa infra iyong mga improvements ng FMR (farm-to-market road) iyon kasi mang-gagaling iyan sa 30% development fund (in the P180 million budget) doon kasi manga-galing funds natin panggastos natin doon”.

He said some of this year’s budget has been appropriated to bleachers for the usage and embellishment of this town plaza.

He cited that their constructions are still being studied as not to block the façade of the municipal hall.

Construction of the common food center has been undertaken so it can cater to people who reside in and outside of this town, covered courts for all elementary schools and construction and maintenance of municipal roads.

“And improvement din ng iba pang mga kalsada, counterpart natin sa 2.5% para doon sa bottoms up budgeting naman”.

He said that aside from the allocation from the budget for the farm-to-market road, the provincial government has re-graveled some village roads and repaired and constructed several public schools’ classrooms.

Out of the P180 million budgets this year, the mayor said P120 million came from the internal revenue allotment (IRA) while P60 million came from local taxes.

He said it is not good to compare the collection of taxes this year versus last year since 2013 was a year where the new market had just been finished, the Marusay Bridge, avenue for vehicles that enter and exit this town, had been closed for more than a year.

He said a better basis for comparison if the local revenue collection spikes will be this year and next year.

“Oo, kasi iyong Mancup Bridge natapos na rin iyong tulay, iyong Malabago (Bridge) pati Marusay Bridge. So tingin ko maayos naman”.

He was optimistic that collection of taxes this year and next year would be good since businessmen here become bullish again after the bridges and the new market have opened.
