Arcinue said the municipal government through the municipal health office has
been conducting medical-dental missions twice a month with the support of
private agencies, notably the San Miguel Foundation.
“We
were able to enlist the assistance of the San Miguel Global Power Mobile Clinic
this time which provided free chest X-ray and ECG services,” he said.
The
monthly health service to barangay folk started during the administration of
then Mayor John Rodney Arcinue and was made twice a month when the elder
Arcinue took over the helm of the municipal government.
Arcinue,
whose mother worked as a physician, said he drew inspiration in making public
health a top priority of his administration, from tugging along as a child with
his mother who oftentimes gave her services free to poor village folk.
During
the latest medical-dental mission held last July 29, the medical team headed by
Dr. Graciela Ramirez-Aloit attended to a total of 129 medical cases, 37 dental
cases and provided free ECG and Ex-Ray
services to at least 60 residents.
Aside
from free medical and dental services, the other services given were pre-natal
and post-natal consultation, deworming, and minor surgeries.
Free
medicines for common ailments, including hypertension and diabetic patients are
provided for.
Dr.
Ramirez-Aloit said pregnant mothers are given pre-natal counseling and vitamin
supplements, while senior citizens are given free medicines.
