DAGUPAN CITY – The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) will hold anew the “Oplan Broadcastreeing,” an annual tree planting activity in support to the National Greening Program (NGP) of the government.
Emmanuel Sibayan, chairman of KBP-Pangasinan chapter, said the activity will be held simultaneously on August 15 by all KBP chapters in the country to raise awareness and encourage the people to join the efforts to counter the adverse effects of global warming and climate change.
“In Pangasinan, the broadcastreeing will be conducted at the Manleluag Spring Protected Landscape at Barangay Malabobo in Mangatarem town,” Sibayan said during the KBP Forum held at the Philippine Information Agency office here on Thursday.
To transport participants going to Mangatarem, a vehicle will be stationed at the DZRD Sonshine Radio in Dagupan City which is scheduled to leave at 5 a.m. and the hiking will start at around 6:30 a.m., he said.
Those who are interested to participate are advised to bring a garden tool to be used for the planting of seedlings and potable water for the hike, he added.
Sibayan also informed participants that it is best to wear long sleeve shirts, pants and sneakers to protect them from large weeds with sharp edges that surround the hiking area.
Now on its fifth year, the activity was previously conducted in San Manuel town in 2011, San Fabian town in 2012, along Pantal and Dawel River in Dagupan City in 2013 and Bonuan Tondaligan Beach in Dagupan City last year.
The activity is in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Department of Interior and Local Government. (AMM/PIA-1, Pangasinan)
