Mayor Belen visits fire victims at PNR site




DAGUPAN CITY – Mayor Belen T. Fernandez visited the five families who lost their homes in a fire that broke out at PNR Site in Barangay Mayombo on August 11 to personally see their condition and  attend some of their needs.

Visiting a day after the fire, Fernandez handed out six kilos of rice, coffee and noodles and a pack of used clothing for every affected family while their children were given bags and school supplies.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is still finding out the cause of the blaze which started at around 11 a.m. and was declared under control after almost two hours.

City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) chief Ronald De Guzman said that the Dagupan Bureau of Fire Protection and the CDRRMO responded in less than five minutes after receiving a call about the fire.

“Thanks also to our augmentation forces like PANDA, CSI-USATV Fire Volunteer, Calasiao Fire Station, Dagupan Police, Public Order and Safety Office, DECORP and Philippine Red Cross,” De Guzman said.

He asked the people that In case of emergency, they should call Belen Hotline 16911 and Belen Hotline cellphone numbers 0933-502-4899 and 0916-525-6802.

The fire victims were identified by the City Social Welfare and Development Office as Felipe Aurelio, Kathlyn Biala, Tony Escaño, Evelyn Wong and Jaybie Loza.

Fernandez also pledged to give financial assistance to the victims so that they can rebuild their homes. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
