VP Binay, Scouters laud Pangsinan for successful holding of nat'l BSP camp

LINGAYEN- Vice President Jejomar C. Binay lauded the provincial government of Pangasinan for the successful conduct of the five-day National Scout Venture Camp held at the Capitol beachfront in Lingayen, affirming the delegates impressions on Pangasinan as the “best camp they ever attended so far.”

Vice President Binay, who also serves as Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) national president, expressed his appreciation to the provincial government led by Governor Amado Espino Jr., host Pangasinan-San Carlos City council, and all others "for giving every possible support.

The venture camp gathered some 3,000 delegates from all over the country. Activities like boating, kayaking, swimming and paddling were held during the camp. Scouts were given further training on sea, land and air survival skills – activities and life-saving lessons which were deemed very important and primordial to scouting.

Before Vice President Jojo Binay gave his speech, young leaders and representatives of the four sub-camps gave their impressions on Pangasinan as the host council. They were one in saying that their experience in Pangasinan was “absolutely amazing."

The scout leaders in a nutshell said: "environment was generally clean, safe, peaceful and orderly. The security provided by Governor Espino was excellent and totally commendable. Pangasinan is a great place to visit and is worth-coming back to again and again because the people are generally friendly, hospitable, warm and cordial and the Lingayen beach is undeniably awesome and breath-taking.”

Gov. Espino, for his part, thanked the organizers and the BSP officials profusely for choosing Pangasinan as the  venue for the Venture Camp.

“I hope that when you go back to your home provinces, you will bring with you happy and wonderful memories of your five-day stay here in Pangasinan,” he said.

Binay told the scouters to use "their new skills to become better scouts and help others be better citizens."

Further, Binay- who just arrived from his recent trip from the United States- underscored three points in his speech: the brilliance of Boy Scouts, the 'heroism' of volunteers and adult leaders, and the success through actions.

Also, the Vice President commended the "exemplary leadership" of Espino, citing what the province has become under his watch.

Governor Espino, also a regional chairman of the BSP, reiterating his stand that the BSP is the best organization there is, thanked all the scouters for sharing their five days in the province through the said venture camp with the theme "Scouting for Environment."

The Scout Venture Camp is being held once every three years to provide opportunities for senior scouts to practice and enhance their physical, social, mental, emotional and spiritual potentials.
