PMA-UC donates 25,000 books to Pangasinan

Lingayen- - -A total of 25,000 books were donated by the University of Cordilleras (UC) in cooperation with the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) to various schools in Pangasinan as part of their Book Donation Program launched in 2010.
In a turnover ceremony last May 17 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC), Maj. Agnes Lynnette Flores, PMA Public Affairs Office Chief, said that it has been the tradition of their institution to support worthy undertakings which aimed at helping local schools throughout the country.
Cheryl Roldan, Chief Librarian of UC, said that the activity is part of the university’s advocacy to support both public and private schools not only in Luzon but the rest of the Philippines.

Roldan said that the project has been going on for four years with the aid of some friends in the United States who donate new and used books.
Recipients include some elementary and secondary schools in the following towns: Agno, Binalonan, Pozorrubio, San Nicolas, Sison, Asingan, Bani, Natividad, San Nicolas, Lingayen, and San Carlos City. The Pangasinan Provincial Library was also included as among the beneficiaries.
Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. earlier thanked the donors as he commended the UC and the PMA for institutionalizing a worthy project.
The reading materials are mostly science, literature, mathematics, and activity workbooks.
