CALASIAO – After significant pressures exerted to its officials, the
biggest revenue district in Region 1 topped its five counterparts in collection
of taxes for this month.
According to Revenue District Office-4 Chief Merlyn Vicente the elusive
race in the No.1 post was a product of strategy and fruit of a long term
program that she and her 15 Examiners and Revenue Collection Officers (RCOs) on the two
cities and 13 towns in Central Pangasinan had formulated in the middle of the
year.
TOP COLLECTOR – Some personnel of the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Central
Pangasinan milled around Revenue District Office-4 Chief Merlyn Vicente. The two
cities and 13 towns covered District just received a communication from the BIR
Regional Office that it topped the collection given to it last November
this year. Aside from Vicente who wears a red clothe in this photo is Assistant
RDO-4 Chief Trina Villamil who clasped a bouquet and carried a cake.
“The product of
various projects done instituted by the District likes benchmarking and iyong
mga non-payment of EFPS monitoring, audit, enforcements, and others.
She cited that in November this year, RDO-4 collected P460, 444,339.90
versus P409, 257,000 of the tax goal given by the national office.
“It is an increase
of P123,092,114.92 if you compared the collection of P337, 362, 224.98 on
the same month last year,” she cited the figures provided on the
Comparative Monthly Collections for November on the six RDOs in Region 1.
These RDOs can be found in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Vigan City, Ilocos
Sur; San Fernando City, La Union; Alaminos City, Pangasinan; Urdaneta City,
Pangasinan; and here.
The District here is the premium RDO because of its mammoth size compared to its other counterparts in the Ilocos Region.

RDO-4 was given a tax target by the government to collect P4.2 billion for 2017.
Vicente said that in November this year her office collected
P3,652,993,178.96 versus the tax goal for the 11 months of P3,681, 779,000.00
or a very minimal deficit of less than 1% or 078% or P28 million.
RDO-4 should have an average monthly collection of P330 million to hit the target in the end of this year.
“Hopefully it will
benefit up to the month of December and before the year will close we are still
hoping ma wipe-out namin (the collection deficit),” she chuckled when asked if she was confident to hit the goal.
She cited that despite the lack of Examiners that ideally should be 99
individuals, the present 15 and the RCOs continue to work hard until the end of
this year to get the more than P4 billion that would fund government projects
and personnel.
“Trabaho pa rin huwag magpapabaya,” she quipped.
