By Melvin Samson

LINGAYEN -  Retired Philippine National Police Senior Superintendent Mariano Luis “SonnyV” Macasieb Verzosa will transform this beautiful and sunny capital town into “Sports Tourism Capital” of the North if the intelligent people here elect him as Municipal Mayor in May 2016.

In an exclusive interview with Verzosa,  he manifested  to this paper the qualities of a visionary leader where he would like to realize a well-developed and progressive town especially with the beautiful , sandy and sunny beaches along the Lingayen Gulf, even as he plans to set and push the advanced segment(s) of development and progress on eco-tourism as its centerpiece, if given the chance, privilege and opportunity to be the Mayor, as he made his slogan, “SonnyV, salien tayo met”,  noticeable on his social media account. The advocacy of the former Pangasinan police provincial director harvested support from a good number of social media enthusiasts and this town’s loving residents who all desire positive social change here.
Verzosa said he wants to see this capital town to be at par with the developments and in-roads made by the administration of Pangasinan Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr.

Verzosa plans to fast track the infra-structure projects that will attract tourists with the very orderly management style of the local chief executive which he said will have a domino effect on the traffic management,  cleanliness, orderliness, sanitation, health, proper zoning of cottage industries that will attract more visitors, tourists, retirees and OFW/balikbayans, not just to visit but to invest and reside in this capital town,  which will tremendously enhance livelihood projects thus minimizing and eventually eliminating the problem on unemployment as well under-employment.

“If the voters of Lingayen will choose me and elect me as Lingayen Mayor in 2016,  I will transform Lingayen into ‘Sports Tourism Capital’ of the north”   to compliment and bolster town’s eco-tourism, the centerpiece of economic development on its viability and sustainability with beautiful, sandy and sunny beaches along the Lingayen Gulf,” he stressed.

Verzosa cited the existence of the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) in this town  as an ideal draw what with its state-of-the-art facilities like the oval for track and field, gymnasium for basketball and other indoor activities like boxing and taekwondo, outdoor volleyball and basketball courts, baseball or soft ball diamonds, swimming pool as well as other amenities in the complex such as quarters for athletes, grand stand and nearby hotels for officials, guests, visitors and tourists.
