Pangasinan police renews commitment to code of ethics

LINGAYEN – Personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Pangasinan greeted the new year right by renewing their commitment to uphold the standards of conduct that mandate what they should – and should not – do at work.

Together, these men and women in the police service observed the 22nd PNP Ethics Day on Monday during their first flag raising activity this year held at the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) compound here.

The PNP Ethics Day is an annual nationwide celebration to remind the police personnel to uphold Republic Act (RA) 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, the basis and guide in the implementation and performance of their duties.

Venus May Sarmiento, information center manager of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Pangasinan, graced the occasion as the guest of honor and speaker.

In a message, Sarmiento reminded police personnel of their duties and responsibilities as public servants.

“Whatever we may be hearing, whatever may be the result of the elections, we must always be united in strength and uphold our code of ethics,” she said.

“While we are in government, while we are in public service, we must commit to a genuine transformation to achieve public trust and excellent service,” she added.

The morale boosting message of Sarmiento has undoubtedly made the police personnel more inspired to keep up the good job, to continue being the trusted cops of the community and to carry on setting good examples for others to follow. (PIA-1, Pangasinan)
