MANGALDAN – This town’s Mayor Bona Fe D. Parayno lauds the Sanggunian Bayan (town council) for passing into law the Grand Parents Day (GPD) that would be celebrated by senior citizens here every October 1.
SING. Mangaldan Mayor Bona Fe de Vera-Parayno belts Sharon Cuneta's Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko during the Grand Parents Day held at the Macario Ydia Development Center last October 1. |
“Gagawin po natin tanda ng pagmamahal at pagsaludo sa mga nagawa ng ating mga lolo at lola sa bawat isa sa atin dito sa ating bayan. Itong araw na ito ay isang pagunita sa isang tradition na matagumpay,”she stressed.
The mayor reminded grand children about the unconditional love given by their grandparents to them.
Mayor Parayno told the grandparents that her administration had just bought medicines that would be given to them for free.
Parayno hailed the grateful grand parents that the just concluded event here was their day.
“This is Grand Parents Day at kayo po ang bida ngayong araw”.
In the last part of her speech, Parayno shed tears when she reads a poem written by a Filipino grandchild, who was working in United Arab Emirates, reminisced her grandfather who suffered a stroke, became indisposed, and suffered countless bed sores that she tried to cure.
Meanwhile, the successor for the post here of beleaguered Barangay Poblacion chief Joselito Quinto has probably blinked after the lawyer of the latter threaten to file a contempt of court case if she pushes through in taking her oath last September 29.
Village Councilwoman Naomi Fabia, the number 2 ranked council member, did not appear at the office of Mayor Bona Fe de Vera-Parayno to take her oath for a 60 days holdover position after Parayno plans to preventively suspend Quinto on that day too and Number 1 Kagawad Melinda Murillo.
Quinto and Murillo were complained by Parayno for illegal exaction when they allegedly issued business permits to individuals who want to put a business in the village.
Two days before the oath taking and suspension by the mayor of Quinto, Parayno said she would push through, despite the temporary restraining order (TRO), with the oath taking and suspension because she, as advised by her lawyer, was not included in the TRO of Judge Jovito S. Samadan of the Regional Trial Court –Branch 40 in Dagupan City.
But a source, who asked anonymity, observe that the mayor and Fabia did not push through to the September 29 oath taking and preventive suspension as Fabia shilly-shallied.
“Probably because of the apprehension of Fabia to be charged in court and prejudiced her plans to immigrate to Canada, the party submit to the resolution of the judge for the petitioner and respondents in the preventive suspension decided by the SB to submit their petition to the TRO that would be counted 10 days after Judge Samadan resolved it last September 24.
