ILOCOS REGION CRIME GROUP AND PAGs SURRENDER

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – Police Chief Superintendent Ricardo C. Marquez, Police Regional Office 1 director announces here today (Jan 25) the surrender of alleged members and leaders of the Gomez- Cachola Crime Group and the Abiang Group. PCSupt. Marquez, stressed that the continuous and close monitoring of the Regional Intelligence Division, the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office and the Regional Special Operations Task Group (RSOTG) resulted to the surrender of the Gomez- Cachola Group yesterday (January 24), followed by the the Abiang Group today (January 25). According to the regional director, the Gomez- Cachola Group, listed as a crime group while the Abiang Group, considered as a partisan armed groups which is allegedly engaged in Gun-For-hire activities and responsible in various nefarious activities in the second district of Ilocos Sur, voluntarily submitted themselves to the police and witnessed by local government officials stating therein their denial as to involvements to any irregularities especially this election period and instead promised to cooperate and assist the PNP in all its endeavor for peace and order in their own locality. The Abiang Group also surrendered one short caliber .38 pistol with ammunitions and one homemade shotgun with no markings and ammunitions. After proper police documentations, all suspects executed their Affidavits of Undertaking and gave their barangay clearances and pictorials. “This is a result of our joint efforts on intensified campaign against all barriers in ensuring a secure and fair elections (SAFE)”, Marquez added
