DAGUPAN CITY – The road from Dominican School to the People's Astrodome in Barangay Tapuac will undergo total upgrading startingNovember 2 this year.
This was bared by Engineer Algen Caronongan of the 2nd Pangasinan Engineering District during a meeting with Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and City Engineer Virginia V. Rosario at the City Mayor's office on October 28.
“Around P25 million has been allotted for the construction of the four-lane road in this area which will be prosecuted through the initiative of 4th District Congresswoman Manay Gina De Venecia,” said Caronongan.
Caronongan added that the road project has a total distance of around 323 meters with an elevation of about .28 meters.
“Along with this project is the construction of the drainage system and the road sidewalk,” said Caronongan.
Mayor Fernandez thanked Congresswoman De Venecia for helping elevate some roads of the city, especially Tapuac which is always under water during rainy season.
“We are truly grateful to Manay Gina because now we will be able to solve the problem of flooding in the area,” Fernandez said.
However, Fernandez said she will appeal to the congresswoman to also work out with the Department of Public Works and Highways for the extension of the elevation project from the Astrodome to the gasoline station near YMCA, which is also being flooded during the rainy season. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
