Former General New Mayor of Lingayen

 BATAOIL PROCLAIMED - Lingayen, Pangasinan Mayor-elect Leopoldo Bataoil (fifth from left) proclaimed by the Municipal Board of Canvassers of the Commission on Election in the capital town after he thrashed with a 9,647 lead votes reelective mayor Josefina “Iday” Castaneda.
 Castaneda and husband former mayor Jonas lorded the coastal first class town for 27 years after Bataoil ended that winning streaks last May 13, 2019 election.
The former police general and exiting Pangasinan Second District’s congressman garnered  30,968 votes in the official Comelec count  while Castaneda  settled for 21,321.
Bataoil’s vice mayoralty tandem Councilor Judy “Juday” Vargas  defeated in a breathless counting by the poll body former vice mayor and lawyer  Nepthalie Pasiliao with  25, 249 versus 25, 073 or a 176 lead votes.
Bataoil and Castaneda belonged to National Unity Party (NUP) and Lakas Party, respectively. TEXT BY MORTZ C. ORTIGOZA
