Mayoral Bet to Kill Himself If He Loses Poll

By Mortz C. Ortigoza

BUGALLON – The political cauldron brews wildly this early here several months before the mayoral election when one of the candidates announced to media men that in case he will lose the poll he will kill himself.

“Manood kayo mga Espino! Subukan ninyong lumaban ng parehas sa election. Huwag kayong gagamit ng pera at magpakamatay ako pag manalo kayo. Iyan ang hamon ko sa mga Espino. Subukan ninyong lumaban sa pulitika na hindi gagamit ng pera at pag tinalo ninyo ako itong election na ito pagkatapos ng election magbibigti ako,“  the livid former mayor Rodrigo Orduña  emphatically told the amused reporters who attended the press conference he and his village chief brother called after law enforcers  raided a multi-billion pesos illegal cigarette factory here.

REFUTE - Bugallon, Pangasinan former mayor Ric Orduña  (left front row) and his older brother Portic, Bugallon Barangay Chairman Bert Orduña  in a press conference they called this month held at the Portic Barangay Hall. The Orduna siblings refuted the earlier media pronouncements of their bitter political nemesis the Espinos who said that the chairman gave Danilo Calugay the permit to operate the C.L Factory as piggery two years ago. In November 28 joint operatives of the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the National Bureau of Investigation swooped in a lightning dusk raid the piggery cum billion of pesos illegal manufacturer of cigarettes like Marlboro, Winston, Mighty, and others. Both the Orduñas  declared that a village chief could not give a permit since it only endorsed the piggery through a barangay resolution for the Department of Environment & Natural Resources and its environmental compliance certificate (ECC) and for Bugallon Mayor Jumel Espino to approve it

The former mayor, who is pitted with Priscilla I. Espino, smarted when he declared to reporters that Espino’s husband Fifth District Congressman Amado T. Espino, Jr. told media men in a press conference held at the municipal hall that Village Chief Edilberto Orduña  had been beaten if his son this town mayor Jumel intervened in the May 14, 2018 Barangay Election.

“Bakit si Jumel Espino ganoon na ka ano sa bayan ng Bugallon kung sasabihin niyang mananalo ay mananalo sa eleksiyon? Kung sarili nga nila hindi sila mananalo kung hindi sila gagamit ng pera, e!”.

The former mayor cited that his brother won the last two village elections. His last opponent was the brother of the beleaguered Dong Calugay.  The latter was the target person on the mission order of the Bureau Internal Revenue for the BIR and the National Bureau of Investigation to raid and seize last November 28 the fake cigarettes and paraphernalia in the factory.

Moreover, Barangay Portic Chairman Orduña denied to the media men that he was handicapped due to a stroke as painted by his opponent.
He told reporters that he was physically fit as seen by them.
