SAN FERNANDO CITY -The Mother Goose Special School System, Inc. (MGSSSI)-Urdaneta campus has made it as this year's regional champion of “Pisay Pinnasiriban” Quiz Bee, getting its third win in a row since 2014.
Campus Director Ronnalee N. Orteza of the Philippine Science High School- Ilocos Region Campus said MGSSI-Urdaneta campus has been a consistent winner since the event was first launched in 2014.
“If they are to win again for the next two consecutive years, they will be proclaimed as Hall of Famer as the PSHS gives such award for consistent five-consecutive year winners,” Orteza said.
MGSSSI-Urdaneta was represented by three grade six students- Bernadette Prado, Jansen Rein Peňa and Annika Bonifacio.
When asked on the experience and how they feel for winning the regional quiz bee, Peňa said that after surviving the intense competition, their team was happy with the turn-out having them declared as the regional winner.
He added that they were only third place at the provincial level and but in high spirits after they have won.
“Through God’s grace, we bounced back to the first place. The top three teams at the provincial level were qualified to the next level and we were part of the top three so, we made it here at the regional finals,” Peňa said.
He also shares his plans on pursuing his studies at the PSHS and said he will take up the qualifying exam to the main campus.
The three teams with the highest scores were declared winners of the regional quiz bee. Winning teams received cash prize- P4,000 for the champion, P3,000 for the second placer and 2,000 for third placer. Winning teams were also given medals, plaque, and certificates. (PIA-1, La Union)
