MANGALDAN - The newly elected mayor here could not hide her joy after being elected in this year’s election.
“Of course! You cannot deny the euphoria of my being elected as mayor. Because of it I felt I got more confidence!” Mayor Bona Fe de Vera said in Pilipino when asked how she felt after she lost to the late Mayor Herminio Romero in the 2010 election but trounced Mayor Bernardo “Berex” Abalos in the May 13, 2013 poll.
De Vera saw that the first order of the day in July 1 when she report for the first time in office is to welcome the personnel of the municipal government. “Of course welcome party for everyone,” she said.
She explained the trisikad (human pedaled pedicab that abound like ants here) are not eye-sores.
De Vera said her administration would be giving a designated area where they could ply their trade. She said that her American twang that betrays her whenever she speaks English was due to her 30 plus years residency in the United States.
