Dagupan Growth Area will Create More Trike Franchises

DAGUPAN CITY – The development of the new growth centers in the city will pave the way for the creation of additional tricycle franchise to benefit the more than 800 colorum tricycles in the roster of the Public Order and Safety Office.

This was bared by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez during the regular flag raising ceremony at the city plaza on October 23, as she confirmed that the city is now making a study on creating a common terminal for tricycles along De Venecia highway, one of the new growth centers of the city under the new Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP).

With the influx of people in the new government center where we are inviting national government agencies to join us so that we will have a one-stop shop government center in addition to the creation of a Business Processing Outsourcing in the area as the city is being eyed as the new eco-zone for ICT-BPO in the north we see the need to add more franchise for the tricycles, Fernandez said.

“What we will do is to divide the more than 800 colorum tricycles into two na kung saan may night franchise and day franchise para lahat ay magkaroon ng hanap-buhay. But, mind you that will be the last. Kung may mga bibili pa ng mga tricycle nila wala na. Tapos na. Zero out na tayo sa colorum,” said Fernandez.

On the other hand, Fernandez assured city hall employees that working in the new government center will be as comfortable as possible for everyone, a comfortable place to work to inspire the employees and become more productive.

“I will make sure that you will be proud of the new government center, which is overlooking the river. Along with the boardwalk, I am sure that the new government center will become a tourist spot as well,” said Fernandez.

The existing city hall will become a heritage site. The city will just create satellite offices for city agriculture office and the market office to be closed with the public market.

“Huwag ho kayong mag-alala. Nakikita ko na po ang pag-asenso ng Pantal-Lucao, Mayombo-Carngalaan-Tebeng and Salisay area once the growth centers are in place,” added Fernandez.

In closing, Fernandez urged city hall employees to work with her and to continuously improve the city’s income “para marami tayong matutulungan” she said. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Oct. 25, 2017)
