News advancer-cookfest and distribution of vegetable seeds

LINGAYEN – Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. will lead the distribution of vegetable seeds to various women’s associations starting at 1:00 p. m. on July 29 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center here.
            The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist said that around 400 members from 22 active women’s associations are set to avail of the seed distribution which is in support to the food production program of the provincial government.  
            The activity will coincide with the awarding of Cookfest winners which is also in line with the celebration of the Nutrition Month slated to culminate on July 31.
            Provincial Agriculturist Dolly Moya said each association will receive one pack of vegetable seeds consisting of bush sitao, smooth green okra, upland kangkong, pechay, ampalaya and patola seeds.
            A technical briefing on backyard and urban gardening will be conducted with the OPAG technical staff acting as resource persons and facilitators.
            The women’s associations participating in the activity include the Pangasinan Women’s Development, Inc., Pogo Women’s Association, 14 associations of Rural Improvement Clubs and six Municipal KALIPI groups from various parts of the province.

            For the cooking competition, the participants will be competing in two categories namely; main dish and pabaon where the contestants will come from the women’s groups.
            Cookfest winners for both categories will receive P3, 000 for the 1st prize, P2, 500 for the 2nd prize and P2, 000 for the 3rd prize.
            All three winners will receive certificates of recognition while non-winners will receive a consolation prize of P5, 000 each and a certificate of appreciation.
