MANILA, Philippines—Three chiefs of police were removed from their posts Friday for failing to curb the proliferation of illegal numbers game in their areas, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo said.
Chief Inspector Joseph Calonge Laureta of Alaminos, Laguna; Senior Inspector Allan Joy Medina Suratosn of Alcala, Pangasinan; and Senior Inspector Roger Manuel Digmayo, of Santo Tomas, Pangasinan were relieved under the Philippine National Police’s “one-strike policy,” Robredo said.
Police raided a small-time lottery outlet owned by Ramloid Gaming Corp. last June 8 and a jai-alai operation at the Alcala public market in Santo Tomas, Pangasinan on June 10 (Jamie Elona, Inquirer.net).
