ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HELMETS – POSO CHIEF

DAGUPAN CITY - No one is above the law in the implementation of traffic laws and ordinances in the city.
This was emphasized by Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) chief retired SPO4 Carlito Ocampo as he enjoined all motorcycle -riding traffic enforcers to always wear their helmets anytime they travel on their motorbikes effective February 1.
His order came following a surprise inspection on the 21 motor cycle-riding traffic enforcers in front of the POSO headquarters on the same day.
Ocampo said this regulation also includes all government employees who are adamant on wearing or bringing their helmets.
=He ordered all traffic enforcers to apprehend any motorcycle-riding individuals without helmets and avoid being bias to anyone but encourage them to do it with courtesy.
Ocampo made it clear, however, that while there is an existing city ordinance which provides the no wearing of helmets while within the boundary limits of the city, motorcycle riders and their back riders, must, nevertheless, bring their helmets with them without necessarily wearing them.
“When it comes to discipline, leading by example is our key words, so let’s do our share and together let’s make history,” said Ocampo.
On the other hand, Ocampo announced that three of the motorcycle-riding traffic enforcers were issued traffic citation tickets for having expired driver’s license. Their service vehicles were immediately impounded at the POSO headquarters and were required to have their driver’s renewed by the Land Transportation Office.
The three will not be allowed to drive their service motor vehicles until they can show new driver’s licenses.
Ocampo urged everyone to strictly observe existing traffic laws and regulations as Mayor Belen T. Fernandez is determined to make the city streets free from unscrupulous drivers and traffic violators for a better and safe Dagupan with disciplined people. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO/Feb. 1, 2017)
