DAGUPAN CITY- Mayor Belen T. Fernandez received another award for Dagupan as among the Top 10 Next Wave Cities in the Country in a ceremony held at Makati Shangri-La last March 30.
Dagupan joined other awardees such as Baguio City, Cagayan De Oro City, Dasmarinas, Dumaguete, Lipa, Malolos, Naga, Sta. Rosa and Taytay.
According to Fernandez, the award means that Dagupan has been identified as one of the best locations for Information Technology and Business Process Management Industry and will follow Manila, Cebu, Clark and Bacolod City in establishing IT-BPM hubs.
As a next wave city, Dagupan passed the following criteria: talent availability, presence of infrastructure, good business environment and cost competitiveness.
"We will definitely be aggressive in welcoming new investments in Dagupan in order to generate jobs for our people especially for our college scholars. This is the next top agenda in my second term of office," Fernandez said.
The award was handed by David Leechiu CEO of Leechiu Property Consultants, Bong Borja CEO of Executive Global Solutions, Cherryl Ortega of the Department of Science and Technology Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO), Executive Director Mon Ibrahim of DOST ICTO and Benedict Hernandez President of Contact Center of the Philippines.
The mayor was accompanied by City Administrator Atty. Farah Decano, PESO Manager Jocelyn Siapno, IT Head Ryan Castaneda and IT Consultant Wilson Manalo during the awards ceremony. (CIO)
