This was stressed by Councilor Brian Lim when he addressed the Technical Working Group (TWG) members of the City Gender and Development (GAD ) during a forum on women empowerment dubbed as the "Orientation on the Concept of Gender and Development and Understanding Laws on Women" last September 30.
Speaking on behalf of his father, Mayor Benjie S. Lim, the younger Lim told to the GAD crew to uplift further the role of women in the Dagupeño society.
He also advised them to mull over the issues surrounding the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill for “underlie it are the proactive rights of women.”
Lecturers were Dr. Fe Andico, director of Pangasinan State University’s Center for Gender Studies, who dwelt on the concepts of GAD; Atty. Evelyn Dunuan ,board member of the Philippine Fedeeration of Local Council of Women Inc., who talked on Magna Carta of Women and other Laws on Women, while Emil Samson and Myrna Celeste from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office discussed the National Council on the Role of Filipino Women.
For his part, City Administrator Vlad Mata stressed the GAD is being encouraged as one of the centerpieces of the Lim administration. (CIO)
