DAGUPAN CITY – In case Regional -1 Medical
Center (R1MC) will be given a charter by congress it will have more incentives
and funds from foundations and other interest groups because of autonomy.
“Advantage
kung corporation na tayo we will be assisted with a lot of foundations just
like SM Foundation and FilInvest Foundation because we are a corporation we
have a total autonomy,” R1MC Director Joseph Roland Mejia
stressed in a press conference he called at his office lately.

Mejia
hoped that senators and congressmen will support his and the stockholders’ endeavors
of R1MC targets in becoming a corporation.
He said conversion of the hospital to be a Government-Owned
and Controlled Corporation (GOCC) will make it at par with the
Philippines Heart Center of the Philippines, Lung Center, and other government
hospitals.
The director even added that it can be likened
to the PhilHealth and Land Bank of the Philippines as GOCC.
He hoped too that salaries and benefits of the
workers at R1MC spike because of the incentives on its conversion to a
corporation.
Mejia cited that R1MC is included in the roster
of world hospitals because of “its being a preferred hospital” in Region 1.
It bagged too the Gold Trail Blazer Award, he
cited.
R1MC was given with the award, Mejia said, by ISA
International Solid of Asia in coordination with the Department of Health.
R1MC and the Batangas Medical Center were the
only two recipients of the award all over the country.
“Given
to us during the initial stage of the Performance Governance System and we are
very happy that we are awarded with the Gold Trail Blazer which is the highest
award given to an institution,” the director explained.
