Under the leadership of Mayor Fernandez, the MBTF scholarship program was established to help deserving students pursue their college or university education.
The city will be endorsing students who successfully passed the screening and section process to their college or university of choice for enrollment.
Under the agreement, the city shoulders P10,000 per student to cover his or her tuition fee of from  15 to 18 units, including miscellaneous fees.
The courses covered by the agreement range from two-year vocational to five-year college courses.
To date, the city government has already produced 220 graduates, with 11 of them passing the state board. At least 1,345 scholars are currently supported under the scholarship program until they graduate.
“The city government is not asking anything in return. I want to help (the youth) improve their lives, because in doing so, I know they would be able to help their families. To be able to lead them to a better future would be my greatest legacy.” said Fernandez. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
