Philippine National
Police Chief Police Director General Ricardo Marquez formalized last March 14
the promotion to a star rank of Chief Supt. Marlou Chan.
Chan is presently the
deputy police regional director for administration of the Police Regional
Office-1 based in San Fernando City, La Union.
The chief of the
national police conferred five star-rank officers during a simple ceremonies at
the PNP Star-Officers' Lounge in Camp Crame.
Those who were
recipients of the promotions were Police Director Rene Diaz Ong (Directorate
for Research and Development); Chan (PRO 1); PCSupt. Eusebio Adamero Mejos
(NCRPO); PCSupt. Lurimer Barron Detran (Directorate for Comptrollership);
andPCSupt. Aaron Nagtalon Aquino (PRO 10)
Marquez designated
Chan lately as commander of the regional special operations task group that
would oversee the orderliness of the election in the region particularly the
tense Pangasinan province.
The almost two millon
vote - rich Pangasinan is the only province in Region 1 included in the list of
election watch-list areas (EWAs) on account of recorded political violence in
the 2010 and 2013 elections.
Chan used to be the acting police provincial director of Pangasinan in 2013.
In May of that year, Chan, then Police Regional Office -1 Director Marquez, and Director Catalino Cuy, chief of the PNP Personnel and Records at Camp Crame, were sued by Pangasinan Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. of a Writ of Injunction at the Regional Trial Court in Lingayen, Pangasinan to stop the appointment of Chan as permanent provincial director of the mammoth province.
Chan is a member of the Philippine Military Academy's Class of 1985
