Rice Distr.: One of the Topics Discuss at the LMP-P’sinan Meeting

MANGALDAN, Pangasinan – One of the topics discussed at the recent general meeting of the League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)- Pangasinan Chapter held in Manaoag, Pangasinan was the rice distribution for the marginalized sector in the local government units (LGU) in the province.

This town’s Administrator lawyer Teodora Cerdan, who represented Mayor Bona Fe D. Parayno, said the subsidy of ten kilos of rice in a six-month span from the national government will be bolstered by a purported counterpart from the provincial government.

“May sa national (government) tapos iyong mga counterpart daw ng province. May P5 million iyang munisipiyo. Pag nagrequest ka uli parang P10 million ang max(imum)”.

She said this town got P10 million of rice subsidy from the Manila based government.

The mayors under the leadership of the LMP-Pangasinan Chapter President Agerico Jeremy Rosario will consult with Governor Ramon V. Guico III how much will be the counterpart contribution of the provincial government, Cerdan told this writer.

LGSF AND 7 MILLION FAMILIES
The national government distributes free rice to the LGUs through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) under the 2026 national budget, reaching around seven million families all over the country.

Financed through the Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (FALGU) under the LGSF, where half of the allocated funds are specifically dedicated to purchasing rice.

The cities, municipalities, and provinces receive direct funding based on population size, allowing local chief executives to handle logistics and distribute regular quotas (such as 10-kilogram packages) to vulnerable households.
