PDEA, Gov. Guico Bestow PPO Under Col Fanged as Drug-Free

The Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico, III conferred an award recently to the Pangasinan's Police Provincial Office (PPO) as illegal drug free workplace.

The honor was held at Camp Antonio U. Sison in Lingayen, Pangasinan on June 5, 2023. It was the result at the behest of the Philippines National Police (PNP) of the mandatory drug test administered to all its personnel last April and May 2023. It found out that all 3,384 personnel under PPO Director Col Jeff Fanged were negative from the use of the dangerous drugs’ methamphetamine and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

The conferment held at Magilas Multi-Purpose Hall here coincided with the traditional Monday’s flag raising ceremony. It was attended by officers from PDEA regional and provincial offices, Provincial Health Office, Chiefs of Police in the mammoth province, force commanders, chiefs of national support units of the PNP and personnel of Pangasinan's PPO.

Pangasinan Governor Ramon V. Guico III gave plaudits to all the personnel of Pangasinan PNP for another milestone and encouraged them to maintain the status of the work-place as a healthy and productive environment for all the residents of the province.

In his message, Col. Fanged warned that he would not tolerate any officer or employee found positive for the use of narcotics because they shall be dealt  administratively in accordance with the provisions of Article 282 of Book VI of the Labor Code and under RA 9165.

The illegal drug testing to the concerned individuals was anchored to the provisions of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (as cited on Article V and Implementing Rules and Regulations) and DOLE Department Order No. 53-03, series of 2003 (as provided on the Guidelines for the Implementation of a Drug-Free Workplace Policies and Programs for the Private Sector).
