BAYAMBANG – Pangasinan’s opposition group United Lights of Pangasinan (ULOPAN) will be commissioning on the next year’s election’s reelectionist Board Member (BM) Vici M. Ventanilla, former Calasiao Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay, reelectionist BM Von Mark Mendoza, Urbiztondo Mayor Martin Raul Sison, and national basketball star’s Jean Marc Pingres, Jr.
“Reelectionist pa rin tayo bilang Board Member ng Ikatatlong Distrito,” Ventanilla, who represented the vote-rich Third District, told this newspaper.
ULOPAN is under the tutelage of Pangasinan Fifth District Congressman Ramon “Monmon” Guico, III and reelectionist Vice Governor Mark Lambino.
Macanlalay is not apprehensive that as a resident Calasiao town he will be pitted to Ventanilla and allies of Governor Amado “Pogi” Espino, III like the wife of outgoing BM Angel Baniqued, Jr. and former Congressman Gener Tulagan or his former BM's son who are residents of the huge 119,210 registered voters (Comelec April 19, 2021) San Carlos City - whose voters elect customarily those candidates from the 86 villages’ local government unit.
“That’s why I’m here attending the SOMA (State of the Municipal Address) of Mayor (Cesar) Quiambao,” he told this Newspaper about him ingratiating to this 76, 343 voters burgeoning town under able stewardship of billionaire mayor Quiambao.
To win the two seats as representative of the 330, 358 voters Third District – the biggest among the six districts in Pangasinan – in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial legislature) in the Capitol, Macanlalay should curry favor with the 59, 823 voters’ Calasiao, 51, 281 voters’ Sta. Barbara, and the 23, 701 voters’ Mapandan.
Ventanilla said his community programs like blood lettings continue in the Third District.
The solon cited the presence of Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador "Sal" Panelo and Presidential Spokesperson Herminio "Harry" Lopez Roque Jr. at his residence because of his friendship with the duo.
“Actually mga kaibigan natin sila. Kilala natin,” he said.
The advantage of being friends with these luminaries, the lawmaker continued, they can intercede for any assistance of the needs of the people in the District.
Meanwhile, reports reaching this Newspaper said that ULOPAN will be enlisting re-elective Second District Board Member Mendoza and Urbiztondo Mayor Sison as the representative of the Second District to the provincial board versus the wife of outgoing BM Nestor Boy Reyes and former Lingayen Councilor Ramon Bataoil who will be running under the ticket of Pangasinan incumbent governor Amado “Pogi” Espino, III.
“He fears he could be defeated by a candidate backed by the Espinos. His uncle, the brother of his father Raul, will be running for Mayor,” a source told this writer about the young municipal Chief Executive decision to the less glamorous post of a provincial lawmaker.
Fifth District Board Member Nicholi Jan Louie Sison, ally of Fifth District Congressman Ramon “Monmon” Guico, III and Vice Governor Mark Lambino, defected to the Espino camp.
A source on conditioned of anonymity told this newspaper the conflict had something to do with a member of the Lakas Christian Muslim Democrats Party.
In lieu of Sison, Pozzurobio resident and national professional basketball star Pingres is rumored to be vying under the ULOPAN for one of the two seats of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial board) in the eight towns and a city’s district.
The duo will be shoving and jostling in winning the hundreds of thousands of votes of the district against seasoned BM Rosary Gracia Tababa known as Jinky Perez and former Vice Mayor Onofre Gorospe of the vote - rich Urdaneta City for the top two posts.
Pingres, who married the daughter of Comedian Vic Sotto, was named one of the professional league's 40 Greatest Players.
