I dropped by recently at the ritzy mansion of a
first class town mayor in Northern Luzon since I did not break bread with him for a long time.
I met there too some of his seasoned political
leaders that spiked up and spiced up our conversation about politics.
When I told them about the audacity of assassins
murdering this year politicians like former La Union Congressman Eufranio Eriguel, Sudipen,
La Union Mayor Alexander Buquing, Balaoan, La Union former mayor and incumbent Vice
Mayor Alfred Concepcion, and former Bayambang, Pangasinan Councilor Levin N. Uy,
the mayor told me about the aborted murder hatched against him.
He narrated that a year ago somebody called him that
his perennial bitter rival, who supports a relative for the mayorship, wanted to
assassinate him.
He immediately contacted his police brass’ friends
at the regional command and sought their help to unmask the perpetrator of the
threat.
ASSASSIN EXPOSED |
“They have technological marvel that could trace the location of the owner of the mobile phone whenever it rings,” he enthused.
“Ya, I
know that StingRay liked gadget. When my cellphone was surreptitiously taken by a
theft from my opened shoulder bag in Mangaldan seven years ago, I told the
incident to the then chief of police of Dagupan City where the device traced
the location of my phone in Barangay Caranglaan of the city,” I cited.
After several days the StingRay liked device tracked
the location of the caller when he opened again his cellular phone probably to check
the responses of those he threatened, teh-he!
The cops discover that the culprit lives with his
family in two houses in a town in Tarlac.
Salamabit, the assassination or threat business is
lucrative since the malefactor have chic abodes the public chief executive
quoted his police friends who did the sleuthing.
He told me he immediately sent short message system (SMS), we colloquially called "text", to the number of the culprit and threatened him, too!
“Kilala na
kita and alam ko kung saan iyong dalawang bahay mo na magkatabi. Pupuntahan
kita diyan at papatayin kita pati na pamilya mo!”
Son of a gun, the hired killer, just like the Moro
rebels whose family were kidnapped by the military, caved in and crumbled. He
begged, through text, the hizzoner ( short for HisHonorTheMayor ) that he be given time to explain.
The mayor acquiesced and they talked through the
phone.
He said it was not the old rival who want to make a
hit job on him but his vice mayor who hired his service.
“Float
lang namin si rival ninyo na papatira para magka idea family and friends ninyo
na siya ang mastermind. Inaantay namin kayo sa isang affair sa plaza noong
isang linggo. Buti di kayo dumating, nandoon kami para tirahin kayo,” he
profusely explained.
The chief executive said he seemed credible because
there was a program in the plaza where he should be gracing.
The mayor then called the man Friday of the veem or
VM and told him to relay to the vice mayor that he was already exposed and he
should be careful threatening other people.
The hizzoner cited that both of them maintained a "bevy" of body
guards now not only after unmasking the killer but after those gruesome
killings of high officials in La Union and Pangasinan and to the numbers of future
killings, God forbid, as the election campaign is forthcoming for the May 13,
2019 polls.
