DAGUPAN AWARDED 4TH SEAL OF CHILD-FRIENDLY LOCAL GOVERNANCE


DAGUPAN CITY – This city was conferred with the 2017 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) in a ceremony held on November 12 at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Signed by Emmanuel Leyco – CWC Chairperson and Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Social Welfare and Development; and Eduardo Año – CWC member and Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Interior and Local Government, the seal is conferred to outstanding local government units in recognition of their commitment in promoting child rights to survival, development, protection and participation

City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) Chief Leah Aquino, City Planning and Development Officer Engineer Josephine Corpuz, City Health Officer Ophelia T. Rivera, and CSWDO Supervising Social Worker Irene Ferrer received the city’s fourth SCFLG award on behalf of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and the city government.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Dagupan was conferred as regional awardee for the SCFLG and is again included in the roster of national finalists for the Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities (PACFMC).
For this, the city is the sole contender of the region for the national award under the Independent Component City category.
The National Awarding Ceremony for the PACFMC is set to be held at the Malacañang Palace on November 20. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
