By Mortz C. Ortigoza

BAYAMBANG – The smarting mayor of this historic town offered two million pesos to anybody who can pinpoint the mastermind of the assassination last Friday of his political confidant.
Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao described Levin N. Uy, 49, as not only his political strategist but his lead man to all his projects in this thriving town.
Uy, a former councilor, was the director of his renowned charitable Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation.
MAYOR MOURNS - Bayambang Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao (standing) deplored the untimely death of his man Friday and political strategist Levin Napier Uy, 49, the director of his Kasama Kita sa Barangay Foundation. Uy was felled by an assassin bullet in the morning of November 16. Quiambao assailed the dastardly act and offered two million pesos reward to the one who can pinpoint the perpetrator and his principal. Quiambao, in this press conference, is joined by Pangasinan governorship candidate and Alaminos City Mayor Art Celeste (5th from left), congressional aspirants and Binalonan Mayor Ramon “Monmon” Guico, III and Board Member Raul Sison (3rd and 4th from left, respectively), the mourning family of Uy, elective officials of the town, and Bayambang Chief of Police Fidel DG Junio.

I don’t want to accuse anyone but the people of Bayambang know who is the head or mastermind of the death of Levin Uy. Kaya, I hope justice will prevail. And I’m putting two million pesos para sa reward para mahuli kung sino ang pumatay kay Levin Uy,” he emphatically said.

Quiambao, a business czar, even exhorted the killer to come public and identify his principal so he can get the millions of pesos bounty.

Abono Party List group's chairman Rosendo So also offered P300,000 as bounty.

A teary eyed Quiambao told dozens of reporters and his barangay chiefs in a press conference held at the air conditioned gymnasium of the town that three months ago his eldest son died that was eventually followed by the murder of Uy.

It was another blow to me”.

The reelectionist mayor said the Friday’s assassination was politically motivated and a gift to sow fear for him at the eve of his birthday  last Saturday.
The grand party organized by Uy saw the attendance of people here and national and provincial politicians at the ground of the Pangasinan State University where the hoopla was stimulated by famous bands from Manila.

“This is really a politically motivated. Sample lamang po ito sa akin. Napakasakit, regalo birthday ko pa bukas. Bisperas ng birthday ko ito ang regalo sa akin. Kaya sana gumising tayo huwag natin ipagpatuloy ng ganitong pamamahala,” the chief executive of the local government here cited.

The mayor told media men that his enemy did this because Uy was his political strategist.
“Siya lahat ang gumagawa ng aking strategy sa aking political campaign”.

Quiambao is pitted with former Mayor Ricardo Camacho in the May 13, 2019.

Uy, a candidate for the Sangguniang Bayan (legislature), was seen with a body guard inside and outside of this town after he reportedly received death threats.

In the now deactivated Juana Maligalig’s Facebook Account of Quiambao’s critics, Uy had been seen there received threats and even fisticuffs challenged by some real members  after they exchanged heated arguments and personal charges.

According to to this town’s Chief of Police Supt. Fidel DG Junio, Uy  and Cesar Junio Salosagcol, 55, were either jogging or walking in the morning of November 16 at the concrete dike of Agno River in Barangay Zone II when a lone gunman in a motorcycle appeared near them and shot Uy on the head and Salosagcol. Both were brought by residents to the hospital but Uy died while Salosagcol survived.
Two empty shells of a .45 caliber were found by the police in the crime scene.
Junio said the gruesome criminal infraction was reported by a resident in the area when he called  the police through his mobile phone at 7:10 am of the same date.
