LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Nasakote na ng kapulisan sa loob lang ng 24 oras ang boyfriend ni Evalend Cervera Salting, 20, matapos niyang patayin at ibaon sa buhangin sa Baywalk dito ang huli noong gabi ng Setyembre 24.

“In less than 24 hours nahuli na ang suspect,” sambit sa writer na ito ni Pangasinan Police Office Director Col. Jeff Fanged matapos sabihin ng una na binabatikos ang kapulisan at mga kawani ng provincial government ng Pangasinan dahil blanko nilang makilala ang salarin.

Kinilala ni Fanged ang suspect na si Reynald Clave Caracas, 21, single at fourth year college student ng Pangasinan State University dito. Siya ay resident ng Barangay Toritori sa Anda, Pangasinan.

Ang nobya nitong si Salting ay third year college sa PSU rin. Siya ay nakatira sa Barangay Sabling, Anda, Pangasinan.

Ikinasa na ng kapulisan ang pagsampa ng kasong rape with homicide kay Caracas. Ang kaso ay walang piyansa habang nililitis ito sa Regional Trial Court dito.

Natuklasan ang bangkay ni Salting noong makita ang bahagi ng katawan nito sa mga buhangin ng Baywalk ni John Karlo Salvador Ramos,35, self-employed at residente ng Brgy. Poblacion dito noong 6:16 pm noong Setyembre 24, 2024.

Ayon sa Philippines National Police (PNP), may lumantad na witness kung saan itinuro nito si Caracas kung paano niya paslangin si Eveland.

Ani ng witness nakita niyang nag-away ang mag siyota at nang makalipas ang ilang sandali tinatabunan na niya ng buhangin ang dalaga.

Pinuri ni Pangasinan Governor Ramon V. Guico III ang PNP sa pamumuno ni Col. Fanged sa kanilang mabilisang solusyon sa karumaldumal na krimen.

Dahil sa mahigpit na pakikipag-ugnayan ni Guico III sa PNP Lingayen at PPO nalutas ang kaso ng pamamaslang sa bente-anyos at third year Pangasinan State University- Lingayen campus student na si Evalend Salting sa loob lamang ng 26 oras.

Ayon kay Police Lt. Col. Amor Mio Somine, hepe ng Lingayen PNP, ang suspek ay kasintahan mismo ng biktima. Sinampahan na ito ng kasong rape with homicide.

Pinuri ni Gov. Guico ang PNP sa mabilis na paghuli sa suspek.

“This is an isolated case. All evidence points out that it’s a crime of passion. The case is now solved,” saad ni Gov. Guico sa press conference sa mga media.

Nagtamo ang katawan ni Salting g traumatic injury sa ulo na naging sanhi ng kanyang kamatayan.

DAGUPAN CITY – Malaking bagay kontra sa mga masasamang loob ang anim na bagong patrol cars na ibinigay ng gobyerno kamakailan lang na pinangunahan ni Police Major Gen. Romeo “Bong” Caramat, Jr..

Ang anim na sasakyan ay pinamahagi ng pinuno ng Area Police Command (APC) - Northern Luzon Major Gen. Caramat, 55, sa siyudad ng San Carlos City at mga bayan ng Calasiao, Sta. Barbara, Mapandan, Malasiqui, at Bayambang.

Ang Heneral ay ipinanganak sa Barangay Golden, Mapandan pero nagkabahay na sa Calasiao noong naging kabiyak niya si Maya Agustin-Caramat na naging alkade ng Calasiao. Si Caramat ay nag-aral ng high school sa isang private school sa Mangaldan, nagtapos sa Philippine Military Academy noong 1992 at naitinalaga sa iba’t ibang bayan at siyudad sa Pilipinas kung saan siya nakipaglaban sa mga rebelde at mga masasamang loob ng lipunan.

LAOAG CITY – Halos dalawang dosenang mga alkalde sa Pangasinan ang nabiyayaan ng ambulansya o patient transport vehicles (PTVs) na galing kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. kamakailan dito sa Malacanang of the North.

PANGASINAN MAYORS are all smiles after they received recently in Ilocos Norte their ambulances and other projects from President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. 

Kasama ito sa 69 full-equipped ambulances na nagkakahalaga ng P146.28 million.

“These vehicles are vital resources to support our heroes in the medical field – our first responders – kasama diyan siyempre ‘yung ating mga healthcare workers, ngunit nangunguna diyan talaga ang mga LGU,” ani Marcos.

Ang PTVs ay galing sa Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP) ng Philippines Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

Kabilang sa mga na nabiyayaan dito ay ang mga bayan ng Calasiao, Basista, Mangaldan, at Sta. Barbara.

Ipinahayag ni Mayor Kevin Roy Q. Macanlalay ang lubos niyang pasasalamat kay President Marcos at sa PCSO sa bagong PTV.

 Lubos din na nagpasalamat si Basista Mayor Jolly "JR" Resuello sa kay Marcos at Pangasinan 2^nd District Congressman Mark O. Cojuangco sa pagpursige ng huli na makabilang ang Basista na makatanggap ng ambulansya.

Pinablessing kamakailan ni Mayor Carlito S. Zaplan ng Sta. Barbara ang ambulansya na bigay ni Marcos at isang bagong police patrol car na donasyon ni Police Major General Romeo “Bong” Caramat para sa kapulisan sa landlocked na bayan na ito.

Personal na ibinigay ni Zaplan ang mga susi ng sasakyan sa mga kinauukulan na kung saan siya mismo ang humiling sa PCSO at kay Caramat.

“Ingatan at alagaan po natin ang ating mga bagong sasakyan para matagal nating magamit ang mga ito para sa ating mga kababayan,” ani ng Punong Tagapagpaganap”.

 Makikita ba natin ang smaller version ng High Street ng Bonifacio Global City (BGC) sa Capitol Complex sa Lingayen, Pangasinan? Nakikinita ko na oras matapos tumayo ang twin-tower sa susunod na taon, magsusunuran na ring papandayin ang mga street malls, convention centers, 300-room hotel, capitol plaza at iba pa ayon sa plano ni Governor Ramon V. Guico III noong matanong siya ng Northern Watch Newspaper sa sidelines ng pagdiriwang ng kaarawan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos noong Biyernes.

Ang twin-tower ay mag-papaunlak ng mga manggagawa ng provincial at national government.

“Ipapa-bid muna natin next month October iyon. Maganda ang magiging itsura nito,” sabi ng gobernador.

Paliwanag naman ni Guico na pag nagawa na ang towers mapapadali na ang trabaho dahil vertical o pataas na lang ang kilos ng mga empleyado sa pamamagitan sa pagsakay sa elevator hindi gaya sa kasulukuyan na sitwasyon na kalat sila sa mga gusali sa halos 30 ektaryang ari-ari-an.

Walang sisirain na mga historical na mga gusali, ayon kay Lambino.

“They would be retained they could be used. The Capitol building, of course heritage building, together with Malong and Palaris”.

Aniya ang mga manggagawa na hindi humaharap sa mga tao ay ililipat sa bagong capitol plaza.

Ang mga mababakanteng gusali ay iaalok sa mga ibat-ibang national at regional na mga ahensya at departamento.

Tama ba ako na oras na matapos ang twin-tower, as chain reaction dahil sa market forces, magsisidagsaan ang mga investors at magpapatayo na rin sila ng mga malls at iba pa  gaya sa Bonifacio High Street (BHS) ng Bonifacio Global City (BGC)? Hinahangaan ng writer na ito ang BHS pag siya’y napadpad sa Taguig City.

Ang Bonifacio High Street pala ay pag-aari ng Ayala Malls – isang real estate subsidiary ng Ayala Land.

Ang third block ng Ayala Malls ay tinatawag na Bonifacio High Street Central kung saan makikita ang mga pinaghalong open-air at indoor commercial buildings. May mga kahoy at konkretong lamesa at upuan din doon sa gilid at gitna ng mga well-manicured na mga damo kaya masarap mag kape at magkuentuhan sa barkada o magmuni-muni gaya ng ginawa ko noong nakaraang linggo habang humihigop ng mainit na Americano na brewed coffee galing Starbucks.  May mga state-of-the-art cinemas din doon.

TAGUIG CITY – The U.S $5.3 billion aviation leader Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI) graced as major sponsor of this year’s “Presentation Ceremony of Appreciation for Korean War Bereaved Families and Veterans” held recently at the Philippines - Korea Friendship Center (PKFC) in Taguig City.

LUMINARIES from the five South Korean donors, South Korea Ambassador to the Philippines Sang Hwa Lee (1st row, 10th from left) retired military and non-military officials of the veteran organizations in the Philippines and South Korea, the surviving Filipino veterans of the 1950’s Korean War pose for posterity at an event held recently at the Philippines - Korea Friendship Center (PKFC) in Taguig City.

According to Philippines Expeditionary Force to Korea - Veterans Association Inc. (PEFTOK-VAI) President Jovena A. Damasen that aside from KAI, the other donors that joined this year’s 74^th Anniversary of the Korean War and PEFTOK-VAI were Korea War Bereaved Families Association, Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Happy Bean Donor, and Good Day International.

“Our guest of honor will be Undersecretary for Civil Veterans and Reservist Affairs USEC Pablo Lorenzo,” President Damasen cited to this newspaper in the September 7 interview before the start of the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Korean War Memorial Pylon at Fort Andress Bonifacio, Libingan ng Bayani in Taguig City.

SMILING Filipino Veterans of the Korean War show the financial gift given by the five South Korean donor organizations. Some officials of these organizations hold a poster at the background of the recipients.

The welcoming remarks held at the PKFC was given by South Korea Ambassador to the Philippines His Excellency Sang Hwa Lee. It was followed by congratulatory messages by Director Sun Nam Kung of the Veterans Organization Cooperation, Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea; Director and Head of KAI In Su Choi; Chairman Kwang Il Kim of Good Day International and Event Organizer; USec Lorenzo, DND; Philippines Veterans Affairs Office Administrator Reynaldo B. Mapagu of the Philippines, and; President of the Veteran Federation of the Philippines (VFP) retired Major Gen. Romeo Alamillo.

 

DESCENDANTS of the Filipino soldiers who served in the 1950 to 1953 Korean War received their financial assistance for their scholarship funded by the organizations from South Korea.

Then ensued the presentation by the South Korean luminaries of the donations to the selected veterans who served in the June 25, 1950 to July 27,1953 war in Korea and their widows and descendants like financial assistance, house repair, and scholarship by the five donors.

The recipients of these repair were six to twenty - five families, one living veteran and one widow.

There were other donations and gifts given on this event.

“Today, we came to your country, the Philippines, with a small gift from the Mnistry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, the KAI, the sponsorship of a Good Day International, and the voluntary fund raising activities of Naver Happy Bean donors and members of the bereaved family. We will never forget the blood and sacrifice of your families,” remarked to the Filipinos by Young Su Kim, the Chairman of Korea War Bereaved Families Association.

Meanwhile, in a prepared message of VFP Administrator Alamillo who was in the Visayas for an earlier commitment, Commodore Salvador Esguerra -- PVAO Deputy Administrator  --  told the guests, various military and non –military officials, the veterans, the widows, descendants, and other attendees at the Korean War Memorial Pylon that the Filipinos paid tribute to the brave Filipino soldiers who served and sacrificed during the conflict – the Korean War – often referred to as the Forgotten War.

“It was the conflict that tested the resolved of the Philippines as a nation and the strength of the Filipino spirits,” excerpt of the speech.

The war, Alamillo wrote, saw the extra ordinary bravery and heroism, resilience and sacrifice of Filipino soldiers as they stood shoulder to shoulder fighting not only for the distant land but for the principle of democracy, justice, and liberty.

“Their sacrifice, their unwaring spirit in the face of the adversity and their dedication to a just cause will be forever be etched on the annals of history,” the speech continued.

Because of the gallantry and intrepidity of the 7,420 Filipino soldiers who served in that three years’ war against the failed invasion and hegemony of communist North Korea and Mainland China, South Korea today is the top 14 economy in the world in 2023 based on USD 33,121 per capita, or USD 1.713 trillion's gross domestic product according to World Data Info.

In a June 2023 interview, PEFTOKVAI President Damasen told this writer that there are less than 100 surviving members of the PEFTOK.

BINMALEY, Pangasinan – Sinabi ng Alkalde dito na inendorso siya ni Pangasinan Governor Ramon V. Guico III sa mayoralty election sa susunod na taon.

“The Governor is now endorsing Mayor Merrera for the mayoral election next year,” buong pagmamamalaking sinabi ni Mayor Pete Merrera noong makapanayam siya noong Huwebes ng Northern Watch Newspaper.

Ipinaliwanag ng Punong Tagapagpaganap na “nasa process of observation“ pa sila ng mga tagasuporta niya kung sino ang karapatdapat na magiging Bise Alkalde niya para sa Mayo 12, 2025 Election matapos tanggihan ni dating Vice Mayor Edgar Mamenta na magkasama sila sa halalan.

Ayon sa isang source, gusto ni Governor Guico na si Maminta – na kanyang kasama noong 2022 Election - ang ka-tandem ni Merrera subalit pinili ng una si dating Mayor Sam Rosario na makakapit-bisig niya sa labanan sa susunod na taon.

Si Rosario ang pinaka beteranong pulitiko sa mga personalidad dito matapos niyang pag serbisyuhan ang bayan na ito ng mahigit labinlimang taon bilang alkalde.

May balak din umanong tumakbo sa ikalawang pinakamataas na elektibong opisyal sina dating alkalde Rolando Domalanta at Sangguniang Bayan member Aning Alipio.

Ani ng isang source na nagapapatawag sa pangalang I.K.S, nagkita sina Guico, Mayor Merrera, at kapatid ng huli na si Liga ng Barangay President Butch Merrera noong Agosto 6 sa isang hotel sa Manila para pagusapan nila ang alyansa.
