Billionaire-Actress Joins Mayorship Race

 By Mortz C. Ortigoza

BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan – To continue infusing hundreds of million of pesos taxes and contributions to his constituents, the mayor here endorsed his young actress wife to be his heir apparent in the next year’s election.

Mayor Cezar T. Quiambao said that spouse Mary Clare Phyllis “Niña” Jose-Quiambao will continue his hundreds of million of pesos vaunted programs and projects that ensued since he became the chief executive of the historical burgeoning first class town here in 2016.

Jose-Quiambao vice mayoralty tandem reelective vice mayor Raul Sabangan told this writer that the lady aspirant will be pitted with former nine -year mayor Ric Camacho and perennial mayorship candidate Lito de Vera.

Camacho is the protegee of Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino, III and his father and namesake the former governor. The Espinos are the bitter political rival of the Quiambaos in jostling and shoving with each other to win the highest elective seat of the local government unit here. The older Espino and Mayor Quiambao were high school classmate here.

Jose-Quiambao said that she and her husband decided to forego his last reelective bid because of a national office position that could financially help more this town.

Napagdesisyunan namin ito dahil mayroong isang napakagandang oportunidad na nagbukas para sa aking asawa sa isang national agency, at naniniwala kami na mas makabubuti at makakatulong ito para sa mas maraming Bayambangueño,” she read on a prepared speech in the Event Center of the local government unit after she filed her certificate of candidacy (CoC) at the Commission on Election.

The mayor told his supporters - who were later joined by the party of governorship and vice governorship candidates Ramon Guico, III and Mark Lambino, respectively – that he will be joining the private sector again and ventures in a $1 billion or P50 billion investment for a power plant in Benguet Province. He said that he needs to continue remitting hundreds of millions of pesos for the town especially his P5 billion bamboo project that could generate more jobs for the people here.

"Malaki po ang aking hinaharap. Malaki po ang gusto kong mangyari sa mga negosyo ng aming pamilya. Kapag ito po ay nagtagumpay, maniwala kayo, sampung libong hektarya ang aking patataniman sa susunod na tatlong taon. Kailangang ko ang maraming panahong iyon at kailangan ang malaking pondo. Mahigit limang bilyon (pesos) ang kailangang kapital para matapos ang aking panaginip sa programa ng kawayan".

One of the garguantuan projects that came from the private fund of the billionaire-mayor is the colossal  St. Vincent Ferrer Statue. The P250 million statue was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the tallest bamboo sculpture in the world.

During the six years stint of Mayor Quiambao, this first class town benefited on the taxes derived from the family controlled corporations.

They are Stradom, Land Registration Systems, Inc. and others.

In his July this year State of the Municipality Address (SOMA), the Chief Executive mentioned that their corporations are the top corporate taxpayers thus the P625, 493, 399.09 mammoth annual budget this year of the town.

Under the “Responsible Financial Administration”, Quiambao cited the top five corporate taxpayers of the 77 villages’ town that paid their business and real property taxes here.

They were the Top 1 Stradom (IT Solution for Real Change) : P63, 578, 488.04; Top 2. Land Registration Systems, Inc. : P39, 860, 018.05; Top 3. AIL & FS: P4, 863, 211.23; Top 4. Jollibee: P1, 551, 811.39, and; Top 5: P1,450,722.72.

Jose-Quiambao said she will guard the rampart of the LGU in fighting for the interest of the people here.
