On behalf of Police Regional Office 1, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the bereaved family of the late Breana Patricia Jonson Agunod. May the comfort of our God be with you and may you be consoled by the outpouring support of our fellowmen!

On September 18, 2021, a report of an alleged suicide incident at a Beach Resort in San Juan, La Union was received by San Juan Municipal Police Station.

Our operatives from San Juan Municipal Police Station immediately responded to check on the veracity of the reported incident that resulted in the discovery of the lifeless body of Breana Patricia Jonson Agunod. She was with her boyfriend, Julian Roberto Ongpin.

Initial investigation revealed that our responding policemen were able to recover 12.6 grams of cocaine in the hotel room where the two checked-in.

The person of interest, Julian Roberto Ongpin, was subjected to a drug test which yielded positive for cocaine use.

I have already instructed the La Union Police Provincial Office to conduct a thorough investigation on the case.

Meanwhile, I have also ordered the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division, Regional Intelligence Division, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Scene of the Crime Operation to closely coordinate and support La Union Police Provincial Office on the said investigation.

The Regional Legal Service was also tapped to assist in the investigation and to act as Crime Scene Attorney.

As of now, a Violation of Sec 11 and 15 of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002 has been filed today against Julian Roberto Ongpin.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the real cause of death of the victim and to be able to gather pieces of evidence for possible filing of other charges if evidence warrants.

Kayo po ay makakaasa sa mabilis at masusing imbestigasyon ng ating kapulisan upang siguraduhing mangibabaw ang katotohanan at makamit ang hustisya.

Maraming Salamat po.
